City of beauties and controversies
Naples is the principal city (also known as “capoluogo” in Italian) of the Campania region. The city is the third most populated in Italy, after Rome and Milan. It was founded around six hundred years before the birth of Christ by the Greeks as Neapolis, which translates to “new city“. Naples is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and it owns up to almost five hundred artistic and historical structures, churches and works of art, making it the city with the highest number of artworks and monuments in the world.

Naples and Pizza
Pizza was born in Naples. We know that you know. But did you know that there are strict rules that apply to pizza in order to have it considered real and original? From the quality of the ingredients to the ways to prepare the dough, the pizzaioli need to be trained and to follow specific directions if they want their pizza to be recognized as such, because the history of pizza is one of a kind and rules must be followed. It was a baker who created the first pizza in 1889: Raffaele Esposito made the first Pizza Margherita for Queen Margherita of Savoy. To recreate the colors of the Italian flag, he used fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil.
